I own the Fujifim F31fd, I’m so satisfied on it’s noise reduction and image sharpness compare to most small DC.
Fujifilm just announced their new accessor F100fd equipped with new generation SuperCCD VIII. I’m not sure if it can maintain the same image quality as F31fd, since F50fd also claimed to equipped with SuperCCD but actually it’s not as good as F31fd. But only great thing that can still make it worth consider is they widen its lens down to 28mm which is a must for landscape taking. And also a faster & smarter face detection algorithm, 400% increase in dynamic range (same as S5 pro?), highest ISO to 12800, 2.7 inch LCD with 100 thumbnails view, all these make together a very exciting camera that we can see soon! If you’re going to get a new DC soon, hold your money!

It will be released in mid March this year.

dpreview DC High ISO Comparsion

I have mentioned before, I’m not satisfied by the high ISO function provided by most current small digital cameras. dpreview just posted an article, Compact Camera High ISO modes, they also point such misleading tricks by many camera manufacturers. Also they’ve included very detail comparision in the article. Be careful of those DC manufacturers’ marketing gimmick. They only push their CCD ISO level and cut down image detail without considering the output is not usable at all!!

Again, if high ISO is your concern, go for Fujifilm f31d!!

Fujifilm FinePix f31d Simple

Some people asked me how’s my new Fujifilm FinePix f31d. I can tell you it’s incredible! If you read the review from dpreview.com, it can even compete with the photo quality of Nikon D50 + 50mm f1.8 lens. And its noise reduction is so great. If I didn’t check the properties, I don’t even remember I set ISO800 for this picture.

If you try to see its simple images, would easily find image detail, sharpness and color rendering cannot be competed by any compact DC. ISO up to 800 is still very useable. Long lasting battery power. Full manual operating mode. Great fill flashing! All of these are factors of what we called a good camera. If you’re looking for a DC now and if quality of image is your concern, I high recommend you to take a look of this camera. Or you may try to search any simple uploaded by people online. The only drawback is it’s using xD, which is expensive and without many choices in the market. And of course, we would hope the body can be further slimmer. However, please be reminded, don’t think FinePix F40fd is a better successor, it’s totally different stuff! So, remember the model no., don’t get it wrong!
