Apple just released Mac OS X update for new cameras including Canon 1D mark IV, 7D, Nikon D3s, D300s, D3000.

ClickToFlash

We love and hate Flash. It could be funny for giving us games and a lot of multimedia effect in web pages. But sometimes web pages are using it too much! And it consumes too much computation power. I found ClickToFlash is a great tool for Safari (I guess Firefox would have similar plug-in). Now I can load and Flash brick I want selectively. It has whitelist that you can add your favourite sites without such checking again. Also you can select H.264 before loading video from like YouTube.

Safari 4.0.4 update solved Flash overwhelming problem

Actually I don’t know it’s caused by Safari or Flash. But my observation is Flash can drive your Mac like a heater, may be it’s good in the winter.
When started using Snow Leopard 10.6, Safari can nicely release CPU resource when you minimize it or changing to other tab. However, it’s not the case after updating to 10.6.1 (with Flash security update) or 10.6.2. Until the Safari update 4.0.4 Apple just released, the problem can be really solved. Hope this will not come back forever!

I still agree Flash is not capable to fit into mobile device unless they can have their code be more environmental friendly!

All Facebook games are Flash monsters, they keep releasing CO2. CPU now running at 105% and machine temperature went up to 80C and even higher!

Switched to my blogging tab, CPU usage by Safari dropped to 35% and temperature is going down.

Aperture X when?

My practice is to select my favourite pictures and let Aperture to do the rest to upload the pictures while I’m sleeping.
Today I found it didn’t get its job done properly. I checked the Console it has such warning message.

conversion from 64 bit to 32 bit integral value requested within NSPortCoder,
but the 64 bit value 9223372036854775807 cannot be represented by a 32 bit value

I think Aperture is relatively out-of-dated for its product cycle especially it should be transited to 64-bit, though I don’t see any need to upgrade at all. Don’t feel good that new users may pick its competitor Adobe Lightroom instead because they have a newer 64-bit version. I still love it more than Lightroom because of the integration with the OS is much better. And for me, I don’t need it to be cross-platform.

And plugins like FlickrExport for Aperture does a great job. And also Facebook Exporter for Aperture.

Hope Aperture X will soon be released. I’ve reserved my saving for it, haha! Why not? It’s more frequently being used than any of my lenses. Digital asset management is so important now as you would easy create several GB of files in a single day.

MacroPolo 2.5.1 for Snow Leopard

I’m lazy to change my Mac’s location profile after going to office everyday. It was so upset the old MacroPolo didn’t work for Snow Leopard. The WiFi toggle didn’t work. I just know the developer still working on it after so many responses in the forum. And he’s even developing 3.0!

Yahoo! KeyKey goes 64-bit

It’s quite amazing for the speed of Mac apps transition to 64bit. Now all my apps other than LaunchBar and DropBox are all 64-bit an I think Windows app can never catch it.

As all you know Apple announced so many cool new products. New design plastic unibody white MacBook, upgraded Mac mini, Mac mini server and multi-touch Magic Mouse.
What I’m thinking is what’s the best deal after this announcement. Surely for students and for budget users the MacBook is the best deal. You don’t need to wait, order it now! For me, my 2.4G 15″ MacBook Pro is running smooth and fast. Still not urgent to replace it with any unibody MacBook Pro, I wonder even the coming year, I may not need to replace it, though it will be 3 year-old.

On the other hand, the new iMac especially the 27 inch model seems a very tempting model. Not just a little upgrade. Where can you find such a beautiful all-in-one desktop with a 2560×1440 display in the market? And one amazing feature that I complained before – the 27″ display allows you to use as display for other Mac!! That means the display port is both input and output! It’s excellent to use it as my Mac mini’s display also!! And more, the Intel i5 and i7 quad-core CPU option, it will be very powerful for video editing! More! bundled with wireless keyboard and new Magic mouse (you need to spend extra HK$1000 more for these before!)

I still remember the video advertisement on the bus this morning saying Lenovo all-in-one PC is the best seller… OMG, it’s too far to compete with iMac, sorry!
